Eyebrow Shaping

The shape of your eyebrows can dramatically change the way you look. Just ask Gwen Stefani, Madonna, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lopez and dozens of other celebs! With proper brow maintenance, you can not only accentuate your face but also keep brows healthy. Here's how.

Tips on proper eyebrow shaping
First, you need to determine the shape of your face. Oval faces look best with soft angular brows with lower arches like Jennifer Aniston's. Round faces look best with heavily arched brows for example, Beyonce's. This shape will make your face appear longer. If you have a square face, you can either soften your strong jaw line with softer brows such as Cameron Diaz's or you can complement your angular jaw with strong brows like Marilyn Monroe's. Finally, if you have a heart-shaped face, go for rounded brows with low arches for an ultra-feminine look such as Gwyneth Paltrow's.

Tools needed for eyebrow shaping
You can achieve salon-like brows at home with a few simple tools. A good eyebrow shaping kit should include stencils for accurate shaping, tweezers to remove strays, brow scissors, brow powders for filling in, brow pencil, eyebrow comb or brush, brow gel or mousse for great hold and an eyebrow razor.
What is best for you?
When it comes to removing unwanted eyebrow hair, you have three main options, threading, waxing and tweezing. Each has its own merits and demerits and you'll have to experiment to figure out which one works best for you.
Eyebrow threading
This is ideal for sensitive skin since threading doesn't cause irritation and redness. You also don't have to wait until stray hair grows back to have your brows threaded. Since no chemicals are used in the threading process and your face hardly gets touched, threading is very safe.
Eyebrow waxing
Waxing is quick but also a little painful. It can only be done on hair that is of a certain length and over time, waxing can loosen the skin around your brows. But, waxing gives you an ultra-clean and smooth feel.
Eyebrow tweezing
Tweezing is safe for all skin types but takes more time since each hair needs to be removed one by one. It can leave some fuzz behind since tweezers can't grab onto very fine hair. Tweezing gives you greater control over your brows since there is no risk of removing hair that you didn't want to remove.

Shapely and natural brows frame your face, highlight facial features and are often the first thing people notice about you! No matter what your preferred method, shape your brows regularly for a beautiful, well-groomed look.
