Junior Web and Graphic Designer
Job Summary
Bidorbuy represents Africa’s largest online market place where 1.5 million buyers and sellers come together to buy and sell merchandise, services and any other marketable goods.
We are looking for a young, passionate and vibrant person to fill the position of Junior Web Graphics Designer. The ideal candidate must have tertiary education in Graphic Design or similar qualifications.
This person will report to the Marketing Manager and will work under and together with the Senior Graphic Designer on all projects for the different brands.
The ideal candidate should have an amazing passion for design and eCommerce, be very creative and be able to conceptualize together with the Marketing Team on projects from start to finish.
You will be responsible for graphical and web design activities, such as websites, advertising, banner design, corporate communications and corporate identity (e.g. creating and maintaining visual “brands”).
The work demands creative flair, up-to-date knowledge of industry software and a professional approach to time, costs and deadlines.
Responsibilities
The candidate’s job may involve managing more than one design brief at a time and allocating the relevant amount of time according to the value of the job. Typical work activities include:
· Accountable for visual design deliverables, ensuring the work is of highest quality and delivered in a timely manner
· Work closely with Senior Designer to provide guidance for the overall visual language for the user interface such as page layout, site navigation, icons, button styles, forms and “widgets”
· Work closely with the Marketing and Category Teams to develop new banners and advertising material
· Ability to successfully drive and apply user-centered design processes while working collaboratively with cross-functional teams
· Willingness to “roll up your sleeves” and work on time-sensitive, critical projects; no job is too small for you
· Keeping abreast of emerging technologies in new media (particularly design programs such as Quark Xpress, Illustrator, Photoshop, 3D Studio, Acrobat, Director, Dreamweaver and Flash);
· Working as part of a team with copywriters, designers, web developers and marketing specialists.

- You will have studied Graphic Design and be able to demonstrate this with a portfolio.
- Strong conceptual and design skills
- Pixel-perfect attention to details
- Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
- A knowledge of Digital Design (HTML and Flash) would be a bonus but not essential.
- Excellent visualisation skills and a flair for design.
- The ability to think creatively and turn initial ideas into a visual reality.
- You will be required to work on a range of creative projects.
- Knowledge and enthusiasm for the retail industry and keeping up to date with the latest trends is essential.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills – the ability to establish rapport with people at all levels.
- Collaborative working style – the ability to consider the merits of ideas from colleagues objectively and allow those ideas to inform own thinking. The ability to be generous and enthusiastic about good contributions from others.
- Flexibility – adapts and works effectively with a variety of situations, individuals or groups. Able to understand and appreciate different and opposing perspectives on an issue, to adapt an approach as the requirements of a situation change, and to change or easily accept changes in one’s own organisation or job requirements.
- Degree in Marketing, Visual Communication, Graphic Arts, Computer Science or related area a plus.
