(18 July 2014) The Lego Movie, Participate for Good and bobshop.co.za  have joined forces to launch the Awesome Project in honour of Nelson Mandela Day.

Two unique listings will launch on 18 July: an auction for a custom-made, one-of-a-kind set of three Nelson Mandela figurines, as well as a fund-raiser raffle for the Nelson Mandela Library Initiative.

For the auction, users will be able to bid on a specially made, one-of-a kind set of three Nelson Mandela mini-figures.

The figures will commemorate three iconic moments in the life of the celebrated anti-apartheid fighter and the first president of democratic South Africa.

All proceeds from the auction of the Nelson Mandela mini-figures, which promise to become highly collectible, will go towards setting up Lego Educational and Play areas in the Nelson Mandela Day Library Initiative.

The Bob Shop auction closes on 27 July. The auction winner will also receive a complementary The Lego Movie Blu-ray and DVD combo pack, to celebrate the South African DVD release of the Hollywood blockbuster.

The involvement of The Lego Movie and a number of local organisations, including Bob Shop, in the Nelson Mandela Library Initiative will continue even after the auction closes and the lucky winner walks away with the three Nelson Mandela figurines.

Also starting on 18 July and running for one month, Bob Shop will host a charity raffle in which users will be able to give as many R2 donations as they want. Each R2 donation will go towards acquiring one Lego brick for the newly created Educational Lego Building and Play Areas in container libraries that are being installed in schools around South Africa by Participate For Good.

Everyone who donates a Lego brick on Bob Shop is entered into a lucky draw for a chance to win one of twenty specially designed Nelson Mandela Lego mini figures, as well as a copy of The Lego Movie on DVD.

“We are proud to host this auction and charity raffle”, says Bob Shop CEO Jaco Jonker. “This is a wonderful way to allow everyone to celebrate Mandela Day in a meaningful way, even those who cannot afford to give as much as they would like to. It is important to emphasise that every R2 donation matters and we hope that Bob Shopers will make use of this unique opportunity to contribute generously to a good cause.”
