(27 November 2006) With social responsibility weighing in the balance of booming profit margins, growth curves and the general run of the mill corporate focus it is always a moving moment when the wheel turns and a revived focus returns to charity. As another year comes to a close, South African's want to look back on the good that has been accomplished.

Last night saw the final fighting of Mnet's most popular reality show Survivor South Africa with many of the infamous items from the show currently up for auction on bobshop.co.za. "Since the finale, we have seen a remarkable increase in bids on some of these items" says Gillian Meier, Business Manager of bobshop.co.za. All proceeds from the auctions will be donated to the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital and with current bids weighing in at R 2010 for Mzi's Fishing rods, R 1660 for Brigitte's Aguila Buff and several other impressive amounts placed to win these items, the final values raised should make for a generous and worthy donation. As commented by Carl Fischer, Head of M-net Original Productions "it will be an interesting after thought to see changes in the demand for certain Survivor memorabilia, now that Vanessa has been announced the first winner of Survivor South Africa".

Other items recently auctioned include the flint which Nico stole from the Aquila tribe the night he was evicted, which has subsequently been auctioned off at the value of R530. Other items for auction include various tribe members' buffs, luxury items and tribe tools.

Another celebrity auction that is currently underway on bobshop.co.za, is the GLAMOUR Magazine, Lebo Mathosa Education Project. This celebrity auction is made up of various celebrity fashion items that include Lebo Mathosa's favorite cocktail dress, Claudia Henkel's beaded Necklace, Terry Pheto's Sandals that she wore to the Oscars and various other irresistible celebrity fashion items. The proceeds from these auctions will be donated to the Lebo Mathosa Education Project, a fund established by the Topsy foundation in honor and tribute to the music icon we sadly lost this year. The Lebo Mathosa Education Project is aimed at generating funds for the Topsy Foundation to educate South Africa's youth about HIV/Aids.

The most successful charity auctions recently closed on bobshop.co.za was the Egoli charity portrait auction inspired by Mnet. The Egoli charity auction comprised of five exquisite portraits of Egoli cast members. Having been written into the October script, these auctions proved to be most popular amongst the shows loyal fans and the highest winning bid was placed on a portrait of Chanelle De Jager (Des) of which the winning bid value amounted to R 10,200. Proceeds from this auction will be donated to the Eastleigh Breast Care Fund.

Not only have these charity auctions comprised of celeb participation which are always bound to get noticed but we have also seen regular members of the community come together to benefit a cause in need. Bidorbuy have recently hosted a national quilting auction arranged by South Africa's leading needlework and craft magazine, Threads & Crafts, in aid of the Breast Health Foundation where some of the countries most talented quilters have come together. Various quilts were created, each uniquely expressing commitment and support for breast cancer awareness. The highest winning auction price was R1,700 for the superb quilt creation titled "Stillewe van 'n vonkel vrou".

bobshop has formed an integral part of several charity auctions benefiting many a worthy cause. "Having facilitated these auctions and assisted in generating exposure and reach, the charity auctions have succeeded beyond our expectations. In aid of our commitment to these causes, Bob Shop has wavered the success fees for these charity auctions that we would ordinarily receive from a successful online auction." says Gillian Meier, Business Manager of bobshop.co.za.

bobshop has the will and found the way and certainly have something beyond financial gains to reflect on during this season of giving.
