Cape Town based fashion designer Hendrik Vermeulen decided to design a special dress to be worn by Western Cape Premier Helen Zille at a charity function and then to donate the dress to the Mylife Foundation, www.mylife.org.za. The dress is now being auctioned to help raise funds for the organisation.
This is a hand dyed silk chiffon evening dress, lined in silk satin, with built in corset in silk satin. The bust is decorated with draped silk chiffon, appliquéd corded lace and hand beading. Matching bolero in hand beaded corded lace. Size 38, can be altered 2 sizes down. The Value of the dress is R23,800. Helen Zille modelled the dress at a charity function on 25 February 2010. Hendrik Vermeulen agreed to adjust the dress for the buyer.
Mylife is a youth development organisation and have achieved some of the best results of any organisation, including these true stories:
A child that was labelled a street child for 12 years was sent to be trained to be a chef by Jamie Oliver, and now works in a top Cape Town restaurant.
Another former "street child" is now a Head of department in the film industry and owns his own house.
