| DESCRIPTION | It is not often that I have the opportunity to offer an artwork by NIC PRINSLOO on auction. His style and painting technique are truly unique and what he produces is exceptional in colour, texture and vibrancy. He does not use a brush, but layers the oil paint very thickly by palette knife on to the canvass in impasto style. The result is that his works have an almost 3 - dimensional appearance and are exceptionally vibrant by nature. This is truly impressionism with a difference. The painting on offer here is done on canvass over a stretcher and it is unframed. It should not be framed, but displayed as is in the modern style. A frame would detract from the artwork and it would not look right in a frame because a frame would affect it's 3 - dimensional, almost sculptural, effect. The artist has signed the artwork at bottom right and it is not dated. It is in is in vertical format and measures 600 x 450 mm You can see the artwork as it is sold in the image above. It is the type of art that constantly reveals something new to the observer and it is not surprising that the works of the eccentric and intense Nic Prinsloo are very popular and do not often become available on the market. They are by nature truly contemporary, innovative and different and appeal to the true art connoisseur. I believe that they make excellent medium to long term investments. The paint is applied very thickly in impasto style and the effect is almost 3 - dimensional.
The artwork is signed at bottom right.
The artwork shown from behind and with a match box to give an indication of relative size. It is a medium sized unframed painting of 600 x 450 mm. Note the fingerprints on the back of the artwork. This is the trademark of the palette knife artist, because the painting is held in one hand while the paint is applied to the canvass by the palette knife held in the other hand.
