Born 1940 in Bellville Cape, Paul started painting at age 27 by self tuition as a hobby.
Pictures became paintings in pastel, oils, acrylics and water colours, with the Cape Landscape, and coastline as subjects. For drawing improvement he studied commercial art through I.C.S. London in correspondence.
“My themes are landscapes, seascapes and everyday views of activity, interpreted and portrayed in a simplified manner. I try to be honest to the atmosphere and character of the scenes, spending time around the country, to look for those moments that find me.”
He has participated in numerous group exhibitions, country wide, several solo exhibitions since 1981 and is a regular exhibitor with Art clubs and has been a presenter of workshops during the last 15 years.
Paul received a Benoni Mayoral award for art development in his region in 1999 and an achievers award for art, celebrating Benoni’s centenary in July 2007.
