Nico Vosloo Signed - Limited Edition - Lithograph

(Size 635mm x 890mm)  Stamped with Guarantee

Nico Vosloo is a world famous South African artists whose work commonly sells for tens of thousands of dollars around the world.

The unfettered, bold and innovative quality Nico Vosloo has established in his art made his paintings irresistible and sought after by international art collectors and art dealers. "It is a nearly mystical experience as one becomes immersed in an illusionary encounter with Nico's art. The luminous, contrasty colors and bold lines and shapes take one into a new level of awareness" an awed admirer said.

In his contemporary ethnic inspired art, his paintings show that technique should not overpower the most essential aspect in any art, namely COMMUNICATION, this resulting in REALITY, AFFINITY, and UNDERSTANDING. "Over the years I have made many friends, world-wide, with people who enjoy, appreciate and understand my art. I am deeply concerned with the quality of the feelings and emotions I hope to communicate, inspire and instill in their lives". Nico said.

The most compelling aspect of his art is the mood and intensity of the moment captured in a balance of subtle and dramatic colors and concepts in recognizable images and symbols of life. "My childhood memories, which include very colorful aspects of rural African tribal life, evoke and inspire my art." Deeply rooted in his personal experiences are the African people and wild animals of the bush. Nico has established an international reputation for intimately recording and dramatizing the disappearing spirit and beauty of authentic Zulu and Xhosa traditions, culture and legends set in dusty, sunny Africa.

Qgira-Ta-Jan, a Xhosa herbalist and family friend gave Nico his first art lessons on how to sculpt clay oxen and paint them with ash, fat and berry juices. Nico's talents were refined through studies at the Johannesburg College of Art, South Africa, where he later lectured for 6 years. His dedication as a full-time artist, thereafter, earned him invitations to exhibitions and one-man shows that culminated in his international acclaim. While traveling in the United States for a period of twelve months Nico won two prestigious awards.

Nico is featured in the 1989 EVERARD READ - THE "DICTIONARY OF SOUTH AFRICAN PAINTERS AND SCULPTORS"

Architects and interior designers have discovered the unique and powerful African character of his art. Not only is his style vogue but by indication from the designer - field, it is fast expanding. The leather, shammy, bone ethnic beadwork, gold leaf, acrylic paint and found "objets d'art" blend tastefully in eye-catching paintings. It was discovered that these paintings harmonize and masterfully compliment leathered upholstered furniture in combination with African sculptures. The paintings quickly become conversation pieces. An added interest is the "reading" of authentic tribal "hieroglyphics" or symbols. These reveal interesting messages. Highly durable materials are used and adhered to canvas, backed by board, to last indefinitely.

"I love doing commissioned work with Architects and Interior Designers. The negotiations and excitement of doing custom designed art work puts a lot of fun into the game of creating". Nico Vosloo
