All our jewellery is meticulously made using solid 92.5 percent graded Sterling Silver.
Sterling Silver is a precious metal and although the price fluctuates as does Gold, it maintains its value through the quality of the piece, which will last a lifetime.
100% pure Silver, also referred to as ‘Fine Silver’, has an actual Silver content of 99.9%. Because of its high purity, fine Silver is just too soft and malleable to use in jewellery making and thus must be mixed with other metals to make it harder. A bit of hardness has to be introduced by adding other metals such as copper, which is why jewellers are capable of making the most intricate and complex designs with 925 Sterling Silver, which when carefully cared for, will last a lifetime.
Real 925 Sterling Silver jewellery typically has certain marks on it to indicate its purity. These marks include "925", ".925" or "S925", to represent the 92.5 percent pure Silver that it contains. It must however be noted that, given the jewellery piece design, if these marks are not present it doesn't necessarily mean that it's not 925 Sterling Silver.
Silver Plated - Silver plated jewellery is not real solid Silver jewellery and is thus rather considered as “costume jewellery”. Real solid 925 graded Sterling Silver jewellery consists of 92.5 percent pure Silver and the other 7.5 percent is a necessary hardening alloy, typically copper. This is very much different from Silver plated jewellery, where a thin layer of Silver is placed over another base metal or alloy, which can be scraped off or tarnished easily.
Silver Filled - Silver filled jewellery is not real solid Silver jewellery and is thus rather considered “costume jewellery”. Real solid 925 graded Sterling Silver jewellery consists of 92.5 percent pure Silver and the other 7.5 percent is a necessary hardening alloy, typically copper. This is very much different from Silver filled jewellery, which is made by taking two thin sheets of silver and pressing between them a sheet of brass, copper or other base metal. Silver filled jewellery has a quantifiable amount of silver in it (often 1/5th by weight but also as low as 1/20th).
It must be noted: Unlike Solid 925 Sterling Silver, Silver plated or Silver filled jewellery cannot be resized (i.e. rings) nor easily repaired, neither should it be subjected to harsh chemicals or continuous water as it may fade/peel/discolour.
Simulated Diamond (also known as Cubic Zirconia) is very similar to a Diamond in its brilliance and crystal clarity, but it is a synthesized (man-made) crystalline material that is colourless, hard, and flawless. It looks so much like a Diamond, that it is widely considered as an affordable alternative to Diamonds.
Because of its low cost, durability, and very close visual likeness to Diamond, synthetic Cubic Zirconia has remained the most gemologically and economically important competitor for Diamonds since commercial production began in 1976. Many people, unless they have a trained eye or a special instrument, cannot tell the difference between Diamonds and Cubic Zirconia.
