Transit Cover Policy

This policy provides cover for items that are in-transit while being transported by a courier who has integrated with Bob Shop through its shipping integration. The cover is subject to the terms and conditions set forth in this policy and incorporates elements from the terms and conditions from the respective integrated courier partners.

Default cover: All orders for R1000 or less will have automatic transit cover up to R1000. For orders, more than R1000 with no optional cover selected will only be covered to the default R1000 transit cover.

Optional cover: For orders valued above R1000, the seller will have the option to purchase transit cover at a rate of 1% of the order value when booking the shipment. This rate is subject to change in the future. The cost is displayed when adding transit-cover while booking a shipment.

Cover limits: The maximum amount that is currently covered is R50,000. Any order with a value above this amount should be insured privately by the seller.

Claims process: Claims will be paid out subject to courier confirmation and subject to the parcel being packaged correctly. Bob Shop reserves the right to wait for a courier investigation to complete before completing a payout for a claim. The claim amount will be based on the cost invoice supplied by the seller or the order amount for the item, whichever is the lowest. For any transit cover claims, please send an email to courierclaims@bobshop.co.za

Claims timeline: Seller or Buyer has 24-48 hours to report damages, and 5 days thereafter to supply cost invoice and any other documentation requested by the courier team.

Cost invoice: This can be informed of a supplier invoice, slip or any other document confirming the cost of the item. For secondhand and antique items, an evaluation or replacement value report will be accepted. For brand-new items, we require an invoice but where the invoice is not available and an evaluation is not possible for a secondhand or antique item Bob Shop will take the price the item sold for as the claim amount.

Highjacking of Courier: If there is a highjacking of a courier, the funds on the order will be reversed to the buyer. Once the courier confirms the insurance claim, we will pay out the claimed amount to the seller.
